Project developers active in South Africa’s emerging green hydrogen sector are invited to submit their project information through the PtX Project Developers Standard. By completing a short online questionnaire, projects can gain visibility within the national pipeline and be considered for potential investment-related opportunities.

South Africa’s Just Energy Transition Investment Plan (JET IP) was established to mobilise investment and coordinate action across the energy transition. The Project Developers Standard (PDS), developed by the JET IP Green Hydrogen Programme Management Office (GH₂ PMO), is a practical instrument to implement this mandate by strengthening the country’s pipeline of investment‑ready GH2/PtX projects.
Green hydrogen presents a strategic opportunity for South Africa to support global and local industrial decarbonisation as well as multiple economic benefits. The PDS addresses introduces a standardised project template and online submission platform aligned with international screening criteria. It provides a transparent, comparable framework to assess project readiness and bankability, reducing information gaps for investors and improving coordination across government and development finance institutions.
Developed during the GH₂ PMO’s first year of operation, the PDS reflects collaboration with national departments, the Industrial Development Corporation, and international partners. Projects aligned with the PDS may be featured in national project pipelines, deal books, and investment promotion initiatives, supporting investor engagement and access to potential technical and financial support.
The PDS strengthens South Africa’s ability to crowd in capital, coordinate infrastructure planning, and position the country as a credible green hydrogen investment destination.
