03 Apr EHLANZENI TVET COLLEGE
Ehlanzeni TVET College is one of the 52 public TVET Colleges and is located in Enhlanzeni District Municipality in Mpumalanga Province. The College is made up of eight sites, seven campuses and a central office. The College offers a range of technical and vocational training programmes in two categories: NATED and the National Certificate Vocational Programmes (NCV) programmes. NCV qualifications give students the chance to become self-employed after they have completed their certificate. These courses were created to allow students to master skill sets away from a traditional school environment.
The Kanyamazane campus offers both NCV and NATED engineering courses. The campus had an engineering workshop, however, there was insufficient equipment for training requirements resulting in the workshop not being accredited by the relevant Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) and Quality Council for Trades and Occupation.
The TVET College received funding to the sum of R1,987,500.00 towards purchasing, installation and commissioning of engineering high tech equipment for the College’s Kanyamazane Campus to improve the quality of teaching and learning and also assist in the provision of Learnerships, Occupational Programmes, Skills Training and Artisan Development. With a high demand for welders around KaNyamazane and the surrounding areas, the funding has enabled the Kanyamazane campus to obtain accreditation for its workshops and Engineering Fabrication/Welding courses. As a result of the funding, Occupational Programmes have since been introduced. Accredited courses allow students to graduate with certificates/diplomas that are widely recognised for them to gain employment or start their own businesses.
