In yet another partnerships endeavour in the North West province, the IDC took part in the provincial investment conference last Thursday, which was held in the Moses Kotane municipality.

Themed:  “Rebuilding the province through the promotion of trade and infrastructure investment”, the investment brought together developmental finance institutions, potential national and foreign investors, as well as small and medium businesses based in the North West province.

Entrepreneurs from Gauteng and other provinces, who are looking for opportunities in the North West mining beneficiation, tourism and agricultural sectors also formed part of the investment conference.  IDC Regional Manager, Estelle Solomons, said IDC is part of strong partnerships in the province, that seek to assist small and large businesses in the province and bring them to a bankable stage,  “All the industries that have been earmarked for investment in this conference, fall within the IDC mandate.

We will be getting involved as a strategic funding partner, but we will look into project development to help small businesses with their state of readiness, before we proceed to the funding stage” said Solomons. “We have established a development finance forum in the North West, which includes other national developmental finance institutions and Provincial development institutions. The North West Development Corporation is also a part of this forum, where together we will look at the readiness of projects to establish which of them are ready for funding,” she added.

North West Premier, Job Mokgoro, addressed delegates and urged investors and funders to support the province’s business sector, “The investment conference also seeks to integrate the role of agriculture in the province’s economy. To achieve this, the province will sign an MOU with TVET Colleges to provide training for students studying agriculture,” the Premier said. Several small and medium enterprises were honoured by the Premier during the conference.
