IDC officially opens new Emalahleni Office

The Emalahleni office will enable IDC to strengthen its visibility and be more accessible in the broader Mpumalanga province. The establishment of the office is also a direct response to the request from potential clients and the broader business community in Emalahleni, who indicated on several occasions that they would like to have an IDC office closer to them, as it was costly and time-consuming to travel to the Nelspruit office.

Most funding enquiries the IDC received from the Mpumalanga province in recent years came from the Nkangala district, “The Nkangala and Gert Sibande districts collectively account for 73% of IDC’s current total investment exposure of approximately R4.66 billion in Mpumalanga. In the financial year ended 31st March 2017, the value of IDC’s funding approvals for businesses from Mpumalanga, amounted to approximately R2.2 billion, which helped to create and save over 4 000 permanent jobs,” said Mpumalanga IDC Regional Manager, Mr. Mashweu Matsiela.

In the past five years (2013 to 2017), IDC approved R3.2 billion for funding of businesses in Mpumalanga, and created and saved over 7 000 jobs through its investments in the province. One of the key focus areas for IDC is increasing the creation of jobs and supporting transformation objectives. Regional and satellite offices provide ease of access to potential IDC clients, improve responsiveness as well an enable better appreciation of local opportunities and challenges.

The new office is situated at the following address: Smokey Mountain Office Park Route N4 Business Park, Third Floor, Room 304 Emalahleni. The office can be contacted at (013) 658 2960
