Billions of rand have been invested and hundreds of thousands of jobs created; established sectors have been expanded and new sectors have been built up; companies have been saved and others have been started. The IDC has walked side-by-side with the country during the first two decades of democracy.

Since the advent of democracy in 1994, Industrial Development Corporation has invested R128-billion in the South African economy, lead the way in transforming the economic landscape, and helped create 360 000 new jobs and save 43 000 jobs through the businesses it funded – and its indirect impact is much higher.

On 16 April 2014 the IDC hosted an event to celebrating walking side-by-side with the country through the first two decades of democracy, with chief executive Geoffrey Qhena talking about some of those steps.
