In 2014 South Africa celebrates 20 years of our democracy.

There have been significant events during the past two decades from the first time all South Africans got to vote on 27 April 1994, to the signing into law of our seminal Constitution on 10 December 1996; from the many sporting achievements including hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ and winning the Rugby World Cup twice, to showcasing South African creativity in its film industry through the Academy Award-winning Tsotsi and the production of the moving Long Walk To Freedom bio-pic of Nelson Mandela; and from the innovative steps taken to ensure economic growth during the global downturn of the late 2000s, including the launch of the New Growth Path in 2010 and the National Development Plan in 2012, to the impact in the science sphere with our partnership on the Square Kilometre Array project, an initiative to explore the cosmos.

The Industrial Development has been there every step of the way, partnering with a wide-range of businesses and organisations to build a strong and inclusive economy; we have supported businesses and new ventures in a number of industrial sectors, creating jobs in both urban and rural areas – transforming lives in the process.

In 2014, we celebrate the impact we have made in industrial development over the past 20 years.
